Foreign Affairs Columnist for the Jamaica Gleaner and formerly a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Government at the University of the West Indies, John Rapley is currently the President and Research Director of the Caribbean Policy Research Institute. Dr. John Rapley completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Oxford University and from 2000-2001 was a fellow at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He is also a member of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence, France. Dr. Rapley founded and directed the Taking Responsibility Project, an ambitious multi-disciplinary study that provided the most comprehensive study of the Jamaican economy since independence. Shortly after its public release to a large public gathering in Kingston in December 2006, the Project turned itself into the Caribbean Policy Research Institute, the first independent think tank of its kind in the Caribbean.
