The Islamic world today is in a state of crisis. Rising violence and radicalism threaten to drown out progressive voices on good governance and respect for human rights. Visionary responses are needed for contemporary Muslim political, economic, and technological challenges.

CIGI’s Islamic World Initiative is creating channels for an interactive dialogue. These channels are expected to assist Muslim leaders in creating opportunities to connect leading minds across Islamic societies and engage them in shared projects. Work examines a far-reaching and complex set of topics that are of critical importance to today’s Muslim societies. Issues tackled revolve around the role of political Islam in governance, encouraging an inclusive interpretation of the Islamic identity, and desirable reforms in governance and education.
